Strawberry Slushy
- 1 cup frozen strawberries (sweetened)*
- 2 tablespoons orange juice concentrate, slightly thawed
- 1/2 cup water
- 4 ice cubes
Put all ingredients into the blender and cover. Blend on high until ice cubes are crushed.
(* You can also use 1 cup of fresh strawberries, crushed and lightly sugared.)
Strawberry-Banana Slushy
- 1 small frozen banana (or use a fresh one)
- 3/4 cup frozen strawberries (sweetened)
- 1 tablespoon orange juice concentrate, slightly thawed
- 1/2 cup water
- 4 ice cubes
Cut banana into chunks. Put all ingredients into the blender and cover. Blend on high until ice cubes are crushed.
Peach Slushy
- 1 small ripe peach
- 1 tablespoon orange juice concentrate, slightly thawed
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/3 cup water
- 5 ice cubes
Peel and cut up peach. Put all ingredients into the blender and cover. Blend on high until ice cubes are crushed.
Tips:
- Some blenders work best if you turn them on and off in spurts.
- Try blending one batch of Strawberry Slushies and another batch of Peach Slushies. Then mix together. Yum!
- For a tarter taste, substitute frozen lime juice or lemonade concentrate for the orange juice.
Serving Options
- Pour the slushy mixture into plastic popsicle molds. Freeze for 4 hours or until solid.
- Pour the slushy mixture into 3-ounce paper cups. Break the entire tine section off a plastic fork. Set the plastic handle into the center of each cup, broken end down. Cover with aluminum foil, pushing the handle through the center of foil. Freeze. Peel off the paper cup to eat.
- Make a construction paper sign for Dad, cut 2 slits in it and slide it on a straw. Set straw into the slushy before serving.
