In 1888, the first safety bicycle was sold. Everyone could ride it. Their feet touched the ground! The safety bicycle looked like bikes today. But then something happened. The car was invented. Many adults quit riding bicycles. Did bicycles die out? No! Children loved to ride them. So factories made smaller bikes for children. Today, inventors are still thinking of changes. But one thing is the same. People of all ages still like to ride bicycles.
